Andy's first exchange trip. In via the Cathedral / Dome route, then down Candle & Shistol pitch to the start of the Battleaxe Traverse. Then out via Mud / Centipede route.
Great first trip into Shuttleworth Pot. The walk across the fell was lovely. All the pitches were fairly straightforward, and the big final pitch into the main passage was impressive. We then had a look at the sumps in Witches cave, before exploring the very impressive and nicely decorated high level passage. We even found the fossilised newt, which was super cool. Got back out to lovely sunshine. A great trip.
A slight delay finding the entrance, we went a bit to far and ended up at another stream/cave. The through trip was great, I rigged and Wayne de-rigged, and we passed the bags/ropes between us. Water levels at the duck were quite low. Everyone got through Slit Pot without too much issue, although we were starting to get quite cold, so Andy/Rich sat in the bothy for a bit to keep warm. Then a quick exit out Valley Entrance to the warm weather. We didn't pre-rig the Valley Entrance pitch, it's an easy freeclimb and it had plenty of rope on it anyway.
