We eventually found the cave after wandering round lots of different fields. After convincing the scouts the water cascading down the Entrance was OK we made fairly fast progress to the pitch. They all got quite a soaking on Idiots Leap. We then rigged the ladder on the pitch off to one side to avoid the water. EECIT (East Essex Caving Instructors Team) were just coming up the pitch at this point so we let them finish before taking our lot down. Due to this wait our other group (led by Kev) had now caught us up and we were all bunched up at the pitch head. We were all soon at the bottom and rather wet. After a quick look down at the second pitch, and Syd invested one of his scouts into his scout group, we headed back up the pitch. We then split the groups up with those that were cold and wet heading out and the others exploring the upper series above the streamway.
