A trip to the troubles in Swildons. I managed to get through both troubles but the second one was lacking airspace. Good and uneventful trip. Water levels were high which made it more sporting.
I was hoping to get some digging done on this trip after last weekend's attempt. Unfortunately Si and Rob didn't make it through the crawl after the third pitch. I went down to the dig to have a look and a lot of water was coming through the scaffolding and a sizeable stream was going down our horizontal passage. Because of the amount of water that weekend in the cave a lot of gravel from the boulder chamber had been washed into the dig, which will need clearing out at some stage.
As Simon was leaving to go home I walked across the mineries to meet Tony at Stocks House. We spent the majority of the time moving bags from the upstream dig back to the bottom of the shaft. We also bagged up spoil in the upstream level from a previous collapse. The bags are to be hauled out Wednesday night.
When Tony dropped me back at the belfry Nick and Elaine were off down Swildon's as they had been walking all-day and wanted to go underground. As I was still in my wetsuit I decided to go on my third trip of the day. We all got down to double pot but Nick and Elaine turned around here but I continued to sump 1 and met up with them again at the 8' slide. A good trip with a fair amount of water.
We did the standard tourist trip to sump 1 and back. Ric pointed out some crystals under the Friday night traverse, which I had not seen before. We also had a look at the pearls under the cascade where there is a good view of the fingers. We also saw the pearls up in high chamber.
