Caving: Longwood August (09-Jun-01)

The first weekend of charterhouse opening and the completely inconsiderate Wessex were using both routes on the 1st pitch in Rhino Rift for rescue practise and wouldn't let us down. As were not able to go check out the dig we went to Longwood instead. Which turned out to be a good trip. In longwood, out August and to both ends of the lower streamway.

A trip straight down to sump 2 via pulpit to bolt up the aven started last time. After placing a couple of bolts we were soon in the tube at the top. Footprints indicated previous exploration here so we left, without further pushing due to crystals and white calcite floor and formations. A few pretties were looked at on the way out and even after a 4 hour trip the entrance was bone dry.
