A trip to chemically persuade the blockage at the dig above sump 2. We all met down by sump 2 after staggering or starts to avoid bottle necking. Jake and Rich had secured a ladder leading up to the passage. I then joined Jake whereupon we made holes in the calcite with a crowbar/lump hammer and inserted the slabs of gelicnite. This was then linked via cortex to the detonators. The cable was dragged to the full length away and detonated. Debris fell from the roof on explosion. As we could not return we headed out. Bea and I exited via cerburus series and lake chamber.

More digging down at the bottom of Rhino Rift. Rob not having been there for two years was impressed by the progress we had made. Again the trip to the dig face was made easier by pre-knotted ropes. Once there we started lowering the floor in the phreatic tube. It was decided this was the best way forward. Digging is quite easy but it does involve getting soaking wet. After several skips of spoil later we headed out as time was pressing.
