Caving: Swildons Hole (08-May-99)

Again we attempted the round trip. We went in the wet way down to tratmans temple up to the mud sump. There was no pump there this time and we bailed it for about an hour. With no luck with the bailing we free dived through the sump, this proved quite difficult as it is tight in the middle but eventually we all got through. We then went down to blue pencil passage and down to swildons 4. Getting off the chain was quite difficult. We then went downstream to sump4 and back upstream to sump 3 before returning to blue pencil passage. After struggling through blue pencil we set the siphon on the 1st trouble and waited for that to drain. We then bailed the 2nd trouble and carried on to the streamway in swildons 2. We now went back out via the wet way .We had now completed the round trip.

A excellent cave with great formations. Thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.

We went in the long way via devils elbow and when we got to the main chamber it was massive. After seeing the bridge in the main chamber we proceeded down to bat passage, where we climbed up to the higher level to see the excellent formations. That was the good part of the trip the bad part was when we got to the entrance the lock was jammed and Wessex members on the outside had to call MRO who bolt cropped the lock. This wasn't the end of our troubles back at Tynings farm the minibus had been broken into.
